WELCOME (BACK) TO WILLOW POND, where Kelso’s younger friend, Lily, is the star of the book! Lily has some BIG feelings throughout these stories. See her learn emotional regulation before they cause a BIG problem.
The LEAPFROG COMPETITION – Lily has a big day with a lot of feelings. She names her emotions and describes how they feel in her body. Pleasant emotions come and go, not-so-nice ones too. She even keeps her cool when the toads try to cheat and has a lot of fun.
LILY THROWS a FIT – A perfect day is rudely interrupted and Lily does not handle it well. Surprise turns to anger, and that grows into RAGE. When she lashes out, Kelso the Frog, has to step in. He teaches her a mindful breathing exercise that helps her calm down. She regrets her behavior and apologizes to everyone she hurt.
DAFNEE’s SAFE PLACE – When Lily flips out Dafnee, the dragonfly, gets scared. She takes care of herself by going to an abandoned birdhouse that she has filled with leaves. A calmed down Lily finds her there. After Lily apologizes they talk it out and decide they can still be friends.
