A mom endorses Kelso’s Choice
I wanted to write and share our story with you. My daughter, Scarlett, is in Kindergarten. Since September, she has struggled with many aspects of becoming a kindergartner and being in school in general. We have had months and months of teacher conferences, with and without the principal, many tears, many temper tantrums, even meetings of, “Do we need an evaluation done for her?” As I would stand in line at the end of the school day to pick her up from school, I would literally feel sick to my stomach wondering how her day was, will I hear her crying as she walks down the hall, etc. She hasn’t wanted to go to school since the very first day. It has been very hard, to say the least.
For the past three weeks, she has come out of school smiling — something has changed for her. Yesterday afternoon, we she was playing, her little 11 month old sister came up and took her toy. She asked her sister to give it back and gently took it back from her. When her sister took it away again, Scarlett stood up and came over to me. She put her hands on her hips and said to me, “Mommy, I’m going to choose to go somewhere else to play. Kelso said that we always have a choice and that I can choose to get mad and yell and scream but what good will that do? The better choice for me to make is to tell her that I don’t like her choice and go play somewhere else. So, that is what I am going to do.”
As I sat and listened to her, I was so impressed with how she worked through that entire situation! Later that evening, as we were reading stories before bedtime, I yelled something downstairs to my husband about him bringing something upstairs for me. He yelled something back like “Well if you stop interrupting me, I could do it faster.” You know, “blah, blah, blah…” Well, Scarlett looked at me and said, “Mommy, I think you should ignore that.” When I asked her what she meant, she said, “Kelso said that if someone says something not nice to you, you can choose to ignore it. That is what I think you should do since that wasn’t very nice for Daddy to yell that to you.” Again, I listened to her and I swelled with pride! Something has changed for her. Something has really helped her and it is so obvious! That something is Kelso and your program. Scarlett has really connected with Kelso and his program and she especially LOVES that he is a frog!
I wanted to say THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart. Kelso and his program has changed my baby’s life forever. She is problem solving, resolving conflicts, managing her behaviors and so much more and it is because of Kelso. Thank you so very much. This program has given her the tools that she will use for the rest of her life and I am forever grateful.
I would love to be able to use the program at home as well, especially with the cute little puppet! (Also even cuter since Scarlett’s little sister’s name is Lilli!)
Thank you again.
Best Regards,
Tonya
Proud Mother of Scarlett….and forever endorser of Kelso!
